Terms and conditions:


Please ensure that you are familiar with, and fully understand, the UFS Postgraduate Diploma Bursary Terms and Conditions.


1. Funding is available to graduates from any University for full-time Postgraduate Diploma study at the University of the Free State (UFS).
2. South African citizens, permanent residents and International students are eligible to apply.
3. Successful candidates will receive their bursary allocations by April 2023. The bursary amount will be credited to their student account.
4. Please note successful candidates are required to settle their outstanding fees and pay their registration fees.
5. UFS Postgraduate Diploma bursary and Government bursaries cannot be held concurrently.
6. The award will be made based on academic merit. Please note the bursary holder is not expected to pay back the bursary or work for the University after completion of studies.
7. Applicants must have obtained an aggregate of at least 65% for their undergraduate degree, i.e. from first year to your final year of undergraduate study.
8. In the case of a repeated module, only the initial mark will be taken.
9. Applicants must have obtained their previous degree in the minimum prescribed period.
10. UFS/CUT and Sol Plaatjies staff members cannot hold the staff bursary and the UFS Postgraduate Diploma bursary concurrently.
11. This is a once-off award, students cannot be awarded additional funding from the Centre for Graduate Support (CGS).
12. Any student who terminates his/her studies has to notify the CGS Funding Office.
13. Bursaries will be cancelled and the award will become payable by you when you:
- Cancel your studies,
- are excluded from the academic program for any reason whatsoever,
- fail to attend the CGS Research Capacity Development workshops.
- Fail to re-register before the final date for registration in any subsequent academic year/semester.
14. The submission of an application form does not guarantee the provision of the award.
15. Current students continuing with their programmes may NOT have any outstanding fees for the previous academic year. Therefore, bursary allocation may not be used to settle old debt.
16. Should tuition fees for 2023 exceed the amount of bursary allocated to a successful applicant, the applicant will be responsible for paying the remaining amount owed to the University.
17. It is the responsibility of an applicant to request an official academic record/transcript from their previous institution displaying their final marks in percentages and not symbols.
18. The CGS reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion not to award the bursary.
19. The CGS reserves the right, in its sole and absolute discretion to cancel awarded bursary.
20. It is compulsory for funded students to attend the CGS Research Capacity Development workshops.
21. The CGS reserves the right to change or modify any of the terms and conditions.

Should I become the recipient of the UFS Postgraduate Diploma Bursary in 2023, I hereby accept and agree to comply with the terms and conditions applicable to the UFS Postgraduate Diploma bursary for postgraduate studies as indicated above.

Late and incomplete applications will not be considered.
